"Aghlabid City" Kairouan is a World Heritage Site because of its very rich historical monuments, it is the must-see cultural and tourist destination which attracts more than half of the tourists visiting Tunisia.

The governorate of Kairouan is also the capital of Tunisian crafts, manual weaving of carpets, copper, wood and leather working remain the main craft activity.

Son économie en plein essor repose essentiellement sur l’agriculture, en tant que premier producteur de piment et d’abricot et un important producteur d’olives de tables. L’industrie manufacturière connait un développement notable qui contribue à la création d’emplois et la valorisation de la production industrielle notamment au niveau de l’industrie agro-alimentaire, pharmaceutique, mécanique et électrique.
